The Ghana School of Surveying and Mapping is merger of the former Ghana Survey School and the Cartographic Training School which were established by the colonial administration for the training of middle level manpower in the survey and mapping industry as far back as 1921 and 1 934 respectively. The school has provided specialized training in this field all over these years.
In 1 992, the World Bank identified this crucial role the two schools have been playing in the national development effort and the urgent needs to train young ones to replace the ageing personnel in the Land sector agencies in particular.
The school has been training and still training staff for Survey Department, the Land Sector Agencies, Ghana Army, Cocoa Board etc and for the Private Sector.
